I have insomnia and have battled it for years due to my depression and anxiety issues. My doctor originally told me to take over the counter medications like Unisom, but I wanted to go a more natural route after a year of taking medication. I got a book from the library on natural approaches to dealing with anxiety, and it suggested Valerian Root and Melatonin. I tried the Valerian Root first. It works well, but you must take a lot more of it than the Melatonin. The Valerian also smells horrible and is hard to swallow because of this. If you are out of Melatonin, its good. Otherwise, I would not recommend it really.
