Cilantro, the leaves of the Coriander plant, are an amazing herb. Chock full of antioxidant components, they help maintain a healthy lipid balance. Which is great, but cilantro also is known for chelating out heavy metals allowing the body to better heal and create better balances overall. We frequently cook with fresh cilantro and all enjoy it. DH enjoys eating it fresh on a salad but I find the taste overpowering when raw. I like the taste but I don't taste anything but the raw cilantro. YMMV.

Pros:
Heart healthy and chelates out heavy metals.
Cons:
Can cause some obnoxiously bad smelling gas. If you're going to eat some, have the whole family do it so nobody is in the position to complain. We've learned to limit ours to the weekends for professional reasons. LOL |
